September Featured Artist: Carrie Cooper
Friday, September 1 – Opening Night
On display all of September in the Bayou Annex Bar
Carrie Cooper is a fiber artist working mainly in embroidery, often incorporating drawing, print-making, image transfers and photography into her pieces. Her aim is to help bring the expressive qualities of needlework – once considered a domestic craft – into the realm of contemporary art. Much of her work explores the isolating effects of modern technology and the complexity of personal identity through humor and juxtaposition.
On display will be work from Carrie’s Goddess Series, inspired by feminist literature and the my exploration of the history of female empowerment through mythology.
